Study Permit Extension

If you want to study in Canada longer, you need to extend your study permit. You should apply to extend your study permit at least 30 days before your current permit expires. However, we recommend you apply more than 30 days before it expires

If you want to keep studying, you must apply to extend your permit at least 30 days before it expires. Make sure your passport doesn’t expire at the same time. Your study permit cannot be extended beyond your passport’s expiry date.

 1. Birth Certificate.
2. Passport identity page (i.e. every page with visa sample & immigration stamp)
3. National identity Card.
4. All pages of the household registration book, and.
5. A CV (certified by the local authorities)
6. Marriage certificate (for married students)
7. OSHC Policy Number.

The minimum PTE score for a Canada student visa for a bachelor’s degree is 5.5 and for a Graduate Diploma course is 6.

The fees for extension must be paid in order for your application to be processed. The fees per person per application are CAD$150, while if you are required to submit biometrics, you must also pay an additional CAD$85.

The processing time varies and can take several months. If you haven’t applied for restoration of your study permit and more than 90 days have passed from the expiry date, you have to leave the country and apply for a new study permit from your country of residence/citizenship.

The proof of financial support must confirm that you have enough funds to support your studies and living expenses for a year. You must show that you have at least $10,000 Canadian Dollars (CAD), plus an additional $4,000 for a spouse/partner, and/or $3,000 for each additional dependent family member (e.g., child).
